The present study investigated personality characteristics of incarcerated male sex offenders. Specifically, the research studied the differences between 33 incarcerated sex offenders and 24 incarcerated non-sex offenders using the Neuroticism Extraversion Openness Personality Inventory Revised (NEO-PI-R). A significant difference was found on the Extraversion Domain scale of the NEO-PI-R with the sex offender group scoring lower. Significant differences were found on several facet scales of the Domain scales. The Activity and Excitement-Seeking facet scales for the Extraversion Domain were significantly different with the sex offender group scoring lower than the non-sex offender group. On the Straightforwardness and Compliance facet scales for the Agreeableness Domain the sex offender group scored significantly higher than the non-sex offender group.en_US
